Microsoft on Tuesday revealed June’s Games with Gold offering, as well as a neat bonus for fans of Phantom Dust.
SpeedRunners (Xbox One: June 1-30): SpeedRunners makes its debut on June 1, and it’ll be free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. SpeedRunners is a multiplayer racing game developed by DoubleDutchGames and published by tinyBuild Games. It’s a title with a long history, having first started as a browser game before becoming an Xbox 360 game called SpeedRunner HD. The game had been in Seam Early Access for years before being released in April 2016 to very positive reviews.
Watch Dogs (Xbox One: June 16-July 15):Ubisoft’sopen-world hacking game launched in May 2014 to decent reviews. It’s a fun game with some serious flaws and an uninspired story. Still, it’s a unique concept that belongs in most libraries.
Assassin’s Creed III (Xbox 360– June 1-15): AC3 was the third (eve though it was technically the fifth) entry in the long-running Assassin’s Creed series, and is widely considered the lowpoint of the series. Players take control of Connor as he fights Templars during the American Revolution. Despite a unique setting, the game failed to capture the greatness of its predecessors due to a bland story and shallow characters.
Dragon Age: Origins (Xbox 360– June 16-30): The first entry in the Dragon Age series came out in 2009 and received nearly universal critical acclaim. It’s a deep action RPG that is sure to please fans of the genre.
As a bonus for the month of June, Microsoft is offering Gold members a free multiplayer DLC pack (normally $ for the recently remastered Phantom Dust. Just last week, Microsoft released the game for free on Xbox One and PC.
